Olaf Corten's Pro/ENGINEER Benchmark

The OCUS R20 Benchmark Results

- Last modified: Sep 21 1999 -

These are the results of my OCUS R20 Benchmark devided into types.

Note: the results are devided into different types, but very few of them fall exactly in type described. For instance, a family table verify will load the CPU a lot but will also display each instance on the screen. So there is also some graphics involved there. This applies the other way round to graphics test as well.

This is just an indication ...

  • CPU tests only score Where putting something on the screen is not the main task: shade calculations, regenerations, pattern x-section, family table, assembly creation, automatic regenerates, perspective views.
  • Graphics test only scoreWhere the main task is putting something on screen: wireframe redraws, shaded mouse spins, shaded redraws, wireframe mouse zooms, explode translations, screen updates.
  • GUI test only scoreWhere the main task is GUI stuff: menu redraws, dialogue box redraws, model tree expansions.
  • DISK test only scoreWhere the main task is disk io: saves.
This test also involves a lot of CPU, since it processes a wireframe display each time the model is being saved (SAVE_MODEL_DISPLAY WIREFRAME). I should have set it to NO_DISPLAY. The next version it will.
